HI, I’M kiri

I'm a photographer based in Byron Bay, NSW, Australia, with a passion for capturing the real, heartfelt moments in the lives of families, couples and newborns. My passion for capturing these moments has been shaped by years of travel and adventure, beginning in my late teens, and continuing through most of my 20's. Travelling the world introduced me to new perspectives, cultures and landscapes, all of which inspire my work behind the lens.

My partner Jay and I share a deep love for adventure, which we now carry on with our daughter, born in 2022.
Becoming a parent has only deepened my appreciation for life's fleeting moments. We often take her with us on hikes, camping trips, and travels abroad, savouring each experience together.

For the past 7 years, we made our home on Sydney's Northern Beaches, where my photography business grew and thrived, connecting me with countless families and couples, and allowing me to capture the precious moments of life, from birth to family milestones. Recently, we returned to Byron Bay to be closer to family, and to raise our daughter surrounded by the natural beauty and strong community here.

My photography style is all about capturing people in their most honest, real, and candid ways. I avoid posed or "cheesy" setups, focusing instead on real emotions and interactions. I believe in creating images that families and couples can truly connect with, giving them something to look back on, cherish, and feel for a lifetime.

"There are few things that inspire and excite me more than photography!"

My love of photography started when I was gifted my first camera for Christmas, age 12! This was also the time when I first travelled abroad with with my mum (for her brothers wedding in the UK). It was not only my first proper over seas trip, but also my first wedding, and looking back, I think those two experiences were pivotal  in igniting not only that passion for travel, but also for documenting love.

From there, my love of photographing new places, cultures and people only grew, and after school I found myself travelling the world for 5 years, doing just that!

“Every wedding, couple and family shoot, I see the world through a whole new lens. Your story will be different from the last, and this ignites my passion all over again.”

Nothing makes me happier than witnessing and capturing love, in all its forms.
From the way two lovers look at one another, to the way a new mother looks down at her child. This feeling, THIS is what I try and capture. I'm not the kind of photographer who will promise you perfect lighting, perfect focus and perfect faces looking and smiling at the camera. While I have a great appreciation for those who do, it's simply not me.
I'm here to capture the real you, which is perfect because of the imperfections. This what will make you look back on your photos and be able to remember exactly how you felt in that moment.
I will always try and capture that connection, that love and always work my hardest to ensure what I create for you will be meaningful and heartfelt.
I like to think I've got a happy, friendly and warm demeanour, and this really helps to ensure you and your loved ones feel comfortable, connected and of course all loved up!
The photos I take for you will hopefully give you something tangible to look back on for years and generations to come.

Rain, hail or shine, I won’t miss a beat

You can rest assured that when it comes to photographing you and your loved ones, I come with not only my camera, but years of experience, and a lot of love behind me!

If it's your wedding I'm photographing, know that I'll be there with you, and for you, every step of the way, ensuring your day runs smoothly and as stress free as possible!

From the early morning light, capturing the nerves and excitement of bridal preparations, popping a champagne, and the beautiful moment the bride first steps into her dress ~
To helping the groom out, opening him a beer, calming the nerves and straightening his tie.

I'll be there, buzzing with excitement to capture this ~ one of the most important days of your life.

While my style is more documentary, you can be absolutely certain that I'll be there for every moment and every detail, as well as being down to boogie on the d-floor (ensuring that Aunty Dorris is captured busting a move after possibly having one too many drinks!).

I want you to know, that whatever you day may look like, I'll be there with lots of laughs, joy and excitement to capture you and your loved ones in the most 'you' way possible.

I'm the kind of person that will belly laugh when you do, and won't (can't!) hold back the tears either.

I thought it might be nice for you to know a little bit more about me, outside of photography.

I'm engaged to my best friend Jay, and we've been together for 7 years now.  When we aren't working, we are always out and about in nature, hiking, swimming, diving or simply enjoying the sun down at the beach.

I love all things creative, I went to a Steiner school throughout my primary education, and actually taught pottery and ceramics at a summer camp in Canada!

I'm really close with my family, and try and get back home to Byron to spend time with them whenever possible.

I absolutely love animals, my favourite being pigs - did you know they have the intelligence equivalent to that of a 3 year old child?

Food is also a great love of mine, and thankfully I'm marrying a trained chef. Let's just say I ain't mad about it haha.

Of course travelling in my biggest passion (so once again, holla if you're planning a destination wedding or elopement!) and once the world opens up, I'll be jumping on the first flight I can.

So there's just a very small peek into a few of the things I love, and that mean something to me.
We are all so different and it's these differences, and the things that make our hearts race that I love to capture.

"Kiri has a special way with people; allowing them their space and making them feel special and gorgeous. Her pictures reflect a wonderful atmosphere and show the "real" you in a most beautiful way! "

Tina & Phillipa

Steph + Dan

One of my favourite things about Kiri's photo's is her timing and the way she captured the emotion on my husbands face during our ceremony. I honestly couldn't recommend Kiri enough for a talented photographer who really puts her heart into capturing yours.

Ellena + Matt

"I'll admit, I was feeling pretty nervous about the idea of someone taking photos of me, but Kiri's reassurance and easy going nature made it all so relaxed and fun! The whole process was so enjoyable and the photos she took are something I'll cherish for a lifetime. When you look at them you can just feel the love. Thank you so much, these photos are now my favourite thing in the universe!"

Megz + fam

Not only is she the most beautiful, caring, energetic human you’ll ever meet! She is so professional and so easy to work with from start to finish.
We are so grateful for what Kiri has captured for us. Which we will treasure forever!
